Lovable
Lovable enables users to build full-stack web applications through natural language prompts.
About
Lovable is a Swedish AI development platform that allows users to create full-stack web applications by providing natural language descriptions. The platform generates production-grade applications, including frontend, backend, database, authentication, and integrations, all backed by editable code. This approach, known as 'vibe coding,' enables non-technical users to develop software without writing code.
Founded in 2023 by CEO Anton Osika and CTO Fabian Hedin, Lovable quickly gained traction with its open-source project, gpt-engineer, which garnered 54,000 stars on GitHub. In November 2024, the company launched its commercial platform, Lovable, and by July 2025, it achieved unicorn status with a $200 million Series A funding round at a $1.8 billion valuation. The funding was led by Accel and included participation from 20VC, byFounders, Creandum, Hummingbird Ventures, and Visionaries Club.
Lovable's flagship product offers a conversational builder, code editing, and deployment features. Users can input natural language prompts to generate code, which is then editable within the platform. The platform also provides a live preview with visual editing that reflects changes in the codebase. In April 2025, Lovable introduced version 2.0, adding features like workspaces, multiplayer collaboration, chat mode agent, security scan, dev mode, visual edits, and custom domains.
By April 2026, Lovable had over 1,000 employees and was valued at $6.6 billion. The platform has been adopted by over half of Fortune 500 companies, with more than 25 million projects created in just over a year. However, the rapid adoption of AI-powered development tools has raised security concerns, as instances of sensitive data exposure have been reported.
◆ Why it matters
Lovable's AI-driven platform democratizes software development by enabling users to build full-stack web applications through natural language prompts. Its rapid growth and substantial funding underscore the demand for accessible development tools. However, the platform's success also highlights emerging security challenges in the AI development space.
