OpenClaw

OpenClaw is an open-source AI agent platform that enables users to build and manage intelligent conversational agents across more than 50 communication channels. The platform's architecture comprises four core subsystems: the Agent Core, which manages conversation state and orchestrates calls to language models; agents, configured instances of the Agent Core; skills, discrete units of functionality that agents can invoke; and the ClawHub skill registry, a centralized marketplace for discovering and installing skills.

The company was founded by Peter Steinberger, who released the initial version of OpenClaw on November 24, 2025, under the name Clawdbot. The platform underwent several name changes, including Moltbot and Molty, before adopting the OpenClaw name.

OpenClaw's flagship product is the OpenClaw personal agent, which runs on local machines and integrates with external large language models such as Claude, DeepSeek, or OpenAI's GPT models. The agent is designed to operate privately, ensuring that user data remains local. Complementing the personal agent is ClawHub, the official public skill registry and marketplace for OpenClaw AI agents. ClawHub hosts thousands of community-contributed skills, enabling users to extend the functionality of their agents.

OpenClaw has attracted a diverse user base, including individual developers, businesses, and researchers. The platform's open-source nature and extensive skill ecosystem have positioned it as a significant player in the AI agent market. Notable competitors include NVIDIA's NemoClaw, an open-source AI agent designed for enterprise use.
